If you’re a music lover, Nashville, Tennessee, is the place to be for rock, country, bluegrass, and Americana music — and so much more. But did you know that downtown Nashville has some of the best music venues in the city? It’s true! Whether you’re looking for an intimate experience or a larger outlet for a big concert, these downtown Nashville music venues have it all.
One of every local’s favorites is the Ryman Auditorium. This historic music hall has hosted some of the biggest names in music, including everyone from Johnny Cash to Tom Waits and Aretha Franklin. The acoustics in the Ryman are legendary, and its downtown location makes it the perfect spot to catch a show.
If you’re looking for something more intimate, you should check out the Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar. This small venue located in historic Printer’s Alley has a reputation for showcasing up-and-coming and well-established blues musicians. You never know who you might see perform at the Boogie Bar, but one thing’s for sure — the talent will blow you away.
Another Printer’s Alley destination worth mentioning is Skull’s Rainbow Room. Originally opened in 1948, Skulls is a speakeasy-style bar that offers live music and burlesque shows. You can enjoy craft cocktails and fine food while taking in the atmosphere and entertainment.
For an immense venue experience, you can’t go wrong with Bridgestone Arena. This arena has hosted some of the biggest names in music, from Taylor Swift to Wu-Tang Clan and Bruce Springsteen. With seating for over 20,000 people, Bridgestone Arena is the place to be for a big concert.
Last but not least, we have to mention Robert’s Western World. This small venue is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. With a focus on traditional country music, Robert’s Western World is the perfect spot to grab a drink (or the world-renowned “recession special” — a fried bologna sandwich served with chips, a MoonPie, and a PBR beer) and enjoy live music.

5 Things To Do In Nashville With Teenagers
1) Listen to Live Music
It’s not a trip to Nashville without experiencing plenty of live music — and some shows are free! Nashville’s family-friendly Musician’s Corner concert series offers no-cost access to live music at Centennial Park each Spring and Fall. Live On The Green is an annual, free, all-ages outdoor music festival showcasing emerging musical talent and performances by well-known artists. Need more ideas? This all-ages and 18+ guide from Nashville Guru will help you navigate the scene.
2) Catch A Game
Another draw for tourism to Music City is Nashville’s four professional sports teams: the Tennessee Titans (football), Nashville Sounds (baseball), Nashville SC (soccer), and the Nashville Predators (hockey).
Why not take your sports-loving teen to a family-friendly game while you’re here? Bonus: Nashville Sounds games feature entertainment from country music legends in felt form racing — something you won’t find anywhere else!
3) Visit A Museum
One of Nashville’s most loved museums is the Country Music Hall of Fame, which hosts permanent and rotating exhibitions featuring renowned country music artists. Included in the price of admission, The Taylor Swift Education Center offers an entertaining space for unique hands-on experiences connected to the museum’s content. Instructor-led youth and family programs are offered each Saturday. During summer, spring, and fall breaks, workshops are offered on Fridays.
4) Experience Local Foods
The Music City hot chicken trend has caught on in recent years. When visiting Nashville with teens, you’ve got to eat at the original hot chicken place that started it all — Prince’s Hot Chicken! With options for plain, lite mild, mild, medium, hot, x hot, xx hot, and xxx hot, and tasty sides like coleslaw and seasoned fries, this is a meal you won’t soon forget.
Made in Nashville for over 100 years, Goo Goo Clusters are roundish mounds of caramel, marshmallow nougat, fresh roasted peanuts, and milk chocolate. The Goo Goo Chocolate Company has a storefront in downtown Nashville that includes a candy store where you can book an experience to make your own unique variations.
5) Find Nashville’s Best Murals
Nashville features many beautiful murals and street art throughout the city — something you and your teens will love to see and snap Instagram-worthy photos of. Several companies offer guided tours. You can also utilize this list from Visit Music City to map out which photo opportunities you want to try first.

If you’re planning a bachelorette party in Nashville, one of your main to-dos will likely be to find the perfect accommodations for your group. After all, it will be your home base for your stay, so it needs to be fabulous and functional. But what should you consider when looking for the ultimate Nashville bachelorette party house? Let’s find out.
What to Consider
While usually, it’s the festivities that get the most attention when it comes to planning, don’t overlook these things when picking your Nashville bachelorette party house.
The size of the group – Is the bachelorette party guest list a few close friends, or are you inviting a small army of partygoers? Either way, keep the convenience of staying together in mind.
How you’ll use the space – No doubt you’ll be out and about celebrating in Music City, but what about staying in? Perhaps you want the amenities and room to cook meals, pre-party, enjoy some downtime, or more privacy than a hotel offers.
Location – Speaking of the festivities, you’ll want a Nashville bachelorette party house that’s centrally located to everything you want to do, whether it’s honky-tonking, shopping, dining, visiting must-see attractions, or all of the above. The downtown Nashville area is a good option if you want a more walkable visit.
The cost – Regardless of your group’s budget size, you’ll want to ensure you get some value for the money. Nashville continues to have some of the most expensive hotel rates in the country, coming in at number five in Cheaphotel.org’s annual survey. But don’t worry — there are plenty of more affordable options!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around Music City. During this magical time of year, visitors will enjoy not only the spotlight on their favorite musicians but also the sparkle of Nashville Christmas lights throughout the city. Here are our must-see spots to enjoy them!
- Christmas at Gaylord Opryland – We consider this one of the most Christmassy spots outside of the North Pole. The resort features millions of lights and festive decor throughout its nine acres of gardens, pathways, and waterfalls. There’s an amazing display of holiday lights outside as well, plus ice skating, ice tubing, live performances, and holiday dining. Not to mention, ICE! returns this year with larger-than-life sculptures carved by expert artisans out of two million pounds of colorful ice. Guests of the hotel can also enjoy its Soundwaves indoor water park. Open November 11 – January 1.
- Holiday LIGHTS at Cheekwood – Stroll through elegant and creative light displays along a one-mile walking path across the estate’s gardens. The experience includes sparkling interactive features, s’mores and bar stations, and a 20-foot-tall poinsettia tree in the bedecked historic mansion. Open November 19 – January 8.
- Dancing Lights of Christmas – Tennessee’s largest synchronized light and music show is located just outside Nashville, in Lebanon. After driving through the Christmas lights, stop at Santa’s Village for carnival rides, a mechanical reindeer, a bungee trampoline, train rides, inflatables, and a petting zoo. Open November 11 – January 1.
- Chad’s Winter Wonderland – What’s unique about this amazing drive-thru display, aside from the fact that it’s also in Lebanon, is that a local resident puts it on at his home. With approximately two million lights, the experience also features live animals and a nativity scene, and they have a special mailbox for letters to Santa. Plus, Santa will be there every night as well. Open November 24 to December 31.
- Jingle Beat – This immersive holiday experience takes place at the Nashville Fairgrounds. You can walk through more than 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor adventures across three holiday worlds that feature dazzling light shows, a full-size ice skating rink, an Electric Evergreens forest, climbable faceted geodes, a Santa Land DJ, and four holiday-themed bars with festive cocktails and food. Open November 25 – December 31.
- Enchant Nashville – This event is at First Horizon Park in Nashville and features animated light sculpture, a story-themed Christmas Light Maze, a dazzling forest of Christmas lights, and a village with artisan vendors, specialty crafts, boutiques, and so much more. Nashville continues to rake in acclaim as it is again on Travel + Leisure’s ’50 Best Places to Travel in 2023′ list and has been named #4 for ‘Best Cities in the U.S: Best Big Cities” by Condé Nast in their 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards. But its popularity isn’t just among country music lovers, bachelorettes, and party-goers. Music City is very much a family town as well. Here are our favorite options for visiting Nashville with family.
For Music Lovers
Nashville is a music town at heart, so the music lovers in your family will want to experience Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. And while the honky tonks on Broadway get rowdy at night, you can still experience live music (often for free) before 7:00 p.m. each night in a more family-friendly environment.
For Sightseers
Your family will want to explore all the city has to offer, and one of the best ways to do that is the Nashville Hop On Hop Off Trolley Tour. One- and two-day options and stops include the Nashville Farmer’s Market, Centennial Park, Legislative Plaza, Musicians Hall of Fame, Belmont Mansion, Frist Art Center, Marathon Village, The Gulch, and more. Best of all, you can spend as much or as little time as you want at each stop.
For Kids, Teens, and In Between
Nashville has so many options for kids to enjoy that it’s hard to know where to begin! There’s the Nashville Zoo, the interactive kids’ activities at the Frist Art Museum, the Nashville Adventure Science Center, Centennial Park and the Parthenon, and Nashville Children’s Theater. Madame Tussauds is another fun experience with the bonus of being inside the Opry Mills Mall, where the entire family can shop until they drop. (Dave & Buster’s and The Escape Game Nashville are also inside Opry Mills.) And teens and tweens will love the Instagram-worthy murals created by local and internationally-known artists around the city.
For Sports Lovers
Young and old alike will have plenty of sporting events to choose from in Music City — from Tennessee Titans football and Nashville Predators hockey to Nashville Sounds baseball and the Nashville Soccer Club. But, even if you can’t get tickets, there are plenty of restaurants and venues around town where you can catch the games on TV.
Resources for Visiting Nashville With Family
There are also two resources we’d highly recommend for additional information on visiting Nashville with family. One is visitmusiccity.com from the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, which has a section devoted to exploring Nashville with family. And the other is Nashville Fun for Families, a website dedicated to what its name says with seasonal lists of things to do, the weekend top five lists, and a calendar of family-friendly events to help you plan your trip.

A trip to Nashville is sure to include a visit to the honky tonks and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. But what about the area known as Music Row? See RCA Studio B, where Elvis recorded more than 200 hits, and explore the heart of Nashville’s music scene located just south of downtown. Check out all there is to experience with our Music Row neighborhood guide.
The Music Row Experience
Music Row comprises two streets: 16th Avenue South and 17th Avenue South. Visitors love the tree-lined streets and laid-back, creative vibe of the area. The Music Row neighborhood features history on every corner, not only because many recording studios and record labels call it home but also because of its beautiful 19th-century homes and mid-20th-century buildings.
Music Row was developed in the 1950s, with the neighborhood rapidly growing after WSM announcer David Cobb referred to Nashville as “Music City, USA” during a broadcast. The moniker caught on, and recording studios, publishing houses, and others that serve the music industry flocked here. One of the first was RCA Studio B, which played a role in the careers of legendary performers such as Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and Willie Nelson.
What to Do in Music Row
There’s also plenty to see and do in the Music Row neighborhood. Here are just a few of our favorite attractions and restaurants.
- Attractions – Must-see attractions include RCA Studio B, the Musica statue, and Owen Bradley Park. Old Town Tolley Tours offers a Soul of Music City Tour that provides a close-up view of some of the town’s most legendary spots, including Music Row.
- Dining – Popular Music Row and Music Row adjacent dining establishments include Barcelona Wine Bar, Sadie’s, Tin Roof Demonbreun, Desano Pizza Bakery, Jack Brown’s Beer and Burger Joint, Bella Napoli, Egghill, and the Commons Club. And don’t leave Music Row without visiting Bobby’s Idle Hour, Music Row’s legendary neighborhood bar.
